My boss walked into my office one Monday afternoon and told me to back my bags to go to Houston. I had night grad school that night. I was told to pack for 2 weeks. I came home 3 MONTHS later. Luckily, my children were adults as self sufficient as long as I was reachable by phone. My husband had walked out on me about 5 years before and left me with our daughter to put through college. I was trying to do as much work as I could on my grad class as well as work LONG days. I also did some other out-of-town stints. Then as soon as my last contract assignment ended, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and six weeks later with fibromyalgia. Now many years later, my son and his 3 year old daughter live with me. I want to get back to quilting. I miss it. Your baskets are beautiful and inspire me to want to piece. I'd have to find the time after the little one goes to bed. She seems to want to be on my lap. She hasn't seen her mother in over 10 months. So, I feel like a mother to her at 65. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work.Suzehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05825257012315494167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14426877.post-85994063687731936632017-01-23T11:01:54.260-07:002017-01-23T11:01:54.260-07:00Pooh love love love this itty bitty basket blocks!...Pooh love love love this itty bitty basket blocks! A show that was recommended to deal with Downton Abbey withdrawal is a show called El Tiempo Entre Costuras. Tiny and sweet!

Masterpiece began showing "Victoria" last night and I thought it was pretty good. It began at the time of Victoria's uncle's death, thereby making her queen. Though short, she stands tall in defending her right to lead against older men who would have her be a puppet queen. Maybe you would enjoy that on a Sunday evening. (I was going to say a replacement for Downton but we know nothing could ever really "replace" Downton.)Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12136584654825212359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14426877.post-32148253068892607582017-01-16T12:43:00.365-07:002017-01-16T12:43:00.365-07:00Love your baskets. They were each a basket square like a quilt. (You are probably too young to remember that.)
We watch Alaska: The Final Frontier. It's a reality show that shows the lives of the Kilcher family on their homestead in Alaska. They are nice people. It's on cable, and I have no idea what the network is. I do have the full series on DVD and have already watched the lot of them over again, now you have me thinking of maybe sitting on a Sunday evening with my hand stitching and watching all over again. One episode each Sunday would be ideal - perhaps two??
I love your baskets Sophie, lots of scrappy goodness. I didn't stitch, but sitting down together each week and knowing others elsewhere were doing the same was comforting and reassuring. Perhaps streaming re-runs of that show from the beginning on Sunday evenings would help re-create that habit. I loved Twin Peaks but TV is too distracting for me to sew while watching; I usually just listen to music. Getting into habits takes time but seems you already had the groove and just need to drop your needle back into it.
