Shades of Gray and Black

On their own, these gray oak leaf blocks are maybe not so interesting ... they look as flat on my wall as they do in this photo.

I have been planning on a twin-size bed quilt made from 16 large oak leaf block: 12 monthly blocks made from the color-of-the-month for the Rainbow Scrap challenge and 4 more that I'd figure out at the end of the year.

This month's color choice of brown, gray and black gave me the opportunity to make a couple of those extra blocks. I made the scrappy brown block last weekend, and this morning, added the gray and black blocks.

And now there are 12 big leaf blocks on my wall.

    This is going to be a beautiful quilt! All the colors play together so very well in this pattern. Are you planning on using a sashing between the blocks? It would look really cool with maple leaf corner stones in the sashing...or could you make mini oak leaves for the corner stones? Oh, the amazing possibilities!! Can't wait to see what you do with them!

    On their own the neutrals may not sing, but as part of the collection-- I really think they are fabulous. What a fun quilt this will be.

    I love the colored leaves! I would have to have more color to balance the black and gray., though. You will make it all come together in the end!
