Paralysis by Analysis?

When Marianne issued her challenge on the Quilting forum to finish three WIPs by April 30, I knew I had to join. I wasn't alone ... the discussion has been so intense, I can't even keep up with the messages.

But back to the quilts ... I thought my biggest challenge would be remembering where I tucked away the fabric for the binding for the large flannel bed quilt last fall, before my move. Instead I've been stalled by indecision.

garden quilt

This quilt is based on the Calico Garden Quilt in the collection of the Shelburne Museum. The original has Broderie Perse applique in the border and I have painstakingly cut out many flowers for that purpose. But ... I keep considering trapunto instead ...

allium

My abstracted Allium was created in a workshop with Jane Sassaman. I thought it would make a great oversized tote ... and the fabric at the bottom extends far enough to form the back of the bag. But now choppng it off and making a small wall-hanging seems to be a better idea.

flannel quilt and Grace Hopper

And that flannel quilt? No indecision here ... and the binding fabric has been located. The biggest challenge may be convincing Grace Hopper and her big brother to give up their favorite spot ...

What a feast for the eyes; wonderful quilts! The garden quilt is lovely and would look good either way; Allium is brilliant; and the flannel quilt is so rich and warm looking. Grace Hopper agrees.

Quilt 1 - do half in broderie pierce and half in trapunto...I like it...to tell the truth, you could just finish it off without doing the flowers and just do some interesting quilting in the border...
Quilt 2 - WALLHANGING!!!! its beautiful!!! I think I would enjoy that class!
Quilt 3 - Grace Hopper is getting big!!!! You need to finish that quilt off so the kitties have cozy to sleep on!

Beautiful quilts! For the garden quilt, I would also tend to go for trapunto or fancy quilting in the border.

Echoing the same sentiments here--quilting the free open spaces on your flower quilt and make a nice wallhinging with the Allium.

Love that big splashy flower surrounded by the lush greens! It's really dramatic and eye-catching.

Beautiful work! I think you can't miss with quilt #1 regardless of how you finish it off. I REALLY love the wallhanging too, such wonderful bright colors and a great design. Jen
