Dreaming of Quilt Blocks

For a long time, I didn't dream . . . because the quality of my sleep was so poor that I never made it to REM sleep. Lately, I've been dreaming–and remembering my dreams–every night. It's a surprising new and different experience for me, and even when the dreams are unpleasant, I always wake up thinking it's a sign of a good sleep.

A few days ago, I dreamed this block. My plan for the Block Lotto this year is for more liberated, free-style blocks, so I had to try some variations of my dream block so I could decide whether of not to share it with the Block Lotto group.

Here's my virtual design wall, as of this afternoon.

Sophie's Tic-Tac-Toe Block #7 Block made with 2.5 Inch strips Sophie's Tic-Tac-Toe Block #5

If you want to play free-style Tic-Tac-Toe, I have put together some directions, here.

If you'd like to make some of these for a chance to win a set, come join us on the Block Lotto Blog. (You might want to go have a peek, anyway, because 85 blocks have already been made and posted and the diversity of bright fabrics and individual interpretation of this block are amazing.)

Thanks for the visit to my blog. It's always fun to meet new people. I see you were up here in Michigan for a while til you moved to Dallas.
The blocks look like lots of fun - bright and colorful. And your cats are very nice looking.

Your design is fun and cheerful. Dreams can help us to work out lots of creative ideas. I had a dream last night that concluded in a plan to take an oversized sweater from my closet, felt it, and make it into a bag. My conscious mind isn't convinced, but my subconscious obviously thinks it's a great idea. I'm glad you an your subconscious are in agreement.

These are cute blocks. Your directions were very clear.
I like the effect of the stripe running up and down in the background.

Sophie, I read your post at Liberated Quilters Group, and came to visit: I love these blocks! But no, I've never dreamed about a block or a quilt.
You might like to see the following quilt, a variation of your block, with directions by Karen Griska of selvageblog.blogspot:

Kathleen, funny you should point me to that quilt because it's on my list of inspiration/ideas for the block lotto this year.

Fabulous, Sophie! You are perfect for joining the Liberated Quilters weblog ring/Yahoo LIb.Quilters Message Board 'Liberated Challenge" I just set up yesterday. Come on over and see what we are doing to make small art quilts for donation to the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. The Challenge has some big name quilters joining in and it will be a fabulous win-win for all of us and AAQI. I saw your message at Yahoo and hopped over for a viewing. Michele Bilyeu
