I keep thinking it's just under 800 miles and was surprised when I uploaded this screen shot that it's actually ONLY 700 miles ;-)
I'll be driving with the cats and some essentials and then bouncing back and forth between here and there to bring some of the rest of my stuff (or contract with movers) and take care of my apartment here.
I don't know what this road trip will bring, but, at least, in terms of the weather, it's blue skies ahead.
I was a little worried about the weather factor when all those horrible storms were passing through Texas and the rest of the country–somehow the thought of jumping out of the car with with two complaining cats in tow and ducking into a ditch is just a bit too adventurous for me.
If all goes well, I will arrive at my new home-away-from-home (casita-away-from-home?) and settle in this weekend.
Send me some good vibes and cross your fingers for me, OK?

What an awesome adventure! I hope you have fun! Wishing you a great summer! Wish it would stop raining here.
I'm sure you will incorporating some of that lovely blue/aqua in your quilts. Good luck. Kathie L in Allentown
Looks like Route 1 is the shorter of the two, but if you kept going west from Clovis to Willard, you could come right through Willard before heading north to Santa Fe. If you're going to be back and forth, I hope you'll stop by or we can get together in Santa Fe. Safe travels.
According to Google, route #1 is 50 miles (but only 15 minutes) shorter. I'm going with a variation of route #1 which was recommended by AAA, which is a bit more shorter but has me traveling through Austin with the morning commute--so I'll either leave early enough to get ahead of it or wait until after it clears. For a smallish city, Austin has some serious traffic challenges.
Fingers crossed over here. Except while typing. Or sewing... Seriously, though - good luck!
Jump right in and keep a positive attitude. Be open to what life brings. Santa Fe is beautiful and you'll have some good artistic inspiration there. I hope this new job opportunity works out in every way. Best wishes. Keep us posted!
WOW! Santa Fe, I am soooo jealous, I LOVE that place!!! Good luck with your new surroundings and job!
I am half way right in the middle of your route, I will give you my phone number if you want. It never hurts to have some familiar folks along the way in case of trouble!
