A tumbleweed like me couldn't resist taking this dialect quiz–would it show where I was from and/or the influences of other places I have lived?
How Y'all Youse and You Guys Talk
My results weren't completely wrong. Of the three cities with which had the closest dialect match, I have visited one of them, which happens to be in the state where I grew up :-)
I can see the influences of where I have lived, too, around the Bay Area, the Southwest and New England.
I think I really need to visit Alaska now, to see if I actually do sound like a native there.

This was fun, Sophie! It got me exactly where I was born, grew up and lived for half my life.
Thanks for posting this. My cities were NY, Yonkers, and Philadelphia. Funny because when my mom and I first came to the U.S. we lived in New York, different small towns in Westchester County, and that was where I learned English. Most people never suspect I'm not an American--though everyone in Brazil pegs me as a "foreigner." Rightly so since I've spoken English longer than any other language, but after I spend time there I start becoming more fluent.
I knew when I checked "rotary" that it would put me right where I was born, grew up and live. I do also call this a "traffic circle" and even "roundabout" but "rotary" is the one everyone around here comprehends when I try to give directions ... ;) Pat
That was interesting - I am a Canadian that has always lived in Southern Ontario. My cities were Rochester, Buffalo and Pittsburgh. It doesn't really surprise me though. When I was a young child we used an antenna to pick up tv signals and we would watch a Buffalo tv station.
Boy, spot on! Madison and Milwaukee, and I live pretty much in between. Third was Salt Lake City, which I've never been. Most distinctive was apparently "bubbler" and "kitty-corner."
You are gonna die! My two cities were New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I grew up in New Orleans and have lived in Baton Rouge for 35 years!
I'll see y'all on the neutral ground and we can go ride the flying horses. But remember to rinse your hands in the zinc first!
Wow, I didn't understand QuiltSwissy a bit!! Nailed where I was born and raised - Reno, Nevada! This was fun - thank you for posting it!
That was interesting. I love memes. Of the three cities, I've been through two, but I don't think the third one. Interestingly, one was Albuquerque, not far from you! Of course, when you consider that I've lived all over the country, it isn't surprising it couldn't really pinpoint better than that. Fun, though!
