One Woman's Stash

When I went to the MSU Museum's yardsale-like event on Saturday, I didn't realize that all the fabric on sale came from one woman's stash.

Fabric More Fabric

There were several more tables full of fabric and a couple with quilt blocks, kits and UFO projects. I learned that when the staff went to pick up fabric from someone's estate, they carried out 35 medium size moving boxes of fabric . . . and only saw one quilt.

The Museum was also selling books, magazines and quilts.

Quilts

The fabric was sold by the pound . . . here's what my eight and a half pound purchase looked like.

Checking out

I confess I went back, bought two more pounds . . . and a couple books.

Looks like a good purchase. All that fabric and only one quilt top. My or my, I better get sewing so this isn't what people say about me.

Oh wow those gradiations look AWESOME! I can see kitties made from those... The browns would be perfect for a siamese kitty.

I think some people are collectors of fabric...

I got a lot of my begining stash from a dear friend Lynda after she passed away, she was a collector of fabric, but I have one of her blocks (the last one she made) in my 30th birthday quilt.

holy cow!! At least the previous owner did a great thing donating it for the museum! Looks like you benefited from it for sure! :D

Yikes... that is a lot of fabric! All that money gone to waste. Is the quilter still alive that it all came from?

Love the pictures of the quilts. I have started collecting already made quilts. Sometimes it is just nice to have a piece of beauty already made!

I hadn't noticed you around the blogring much lately so stopped by to see what was going on. Glad to see you are posting.

I can certainly identify with this woman's stash!

OK, ok, make me insane with jealousy - how much were they charging per pound?

Those gradations make me drool!

It is so funny that one person's stash is big enough to be the sole provider of fabric at an event like this.

Well maybe she made hundreds of quilts and gave them all away! Love those gradations, by the way.
