More Circles ... For a Good Cause

I used the sample blocks from the 6-minute circle demo I mentioned yesterday to make placemat's for one of my guild's community service projects. You might recognize them as two of last year's lotto blocks: Sunrise and Bead-on-a-String.

4 Placemats for Kitchen Angels

I had fun playing with quilting designs over the weekend and finishing them up–the bindings are sewn down by machine, so no Slow Sunday Stitching for me today.

I wanted to try Karen's Feather Galaxy fill pattern ... but I never quite found my rhythm.

Quilting for "Beaded Placemat"The dark gray thread showed up a lot more than I expected on the gray-on-black background, too.

I will likely try it on another project and probably change it up enough to make it work better for me. You can see what it's supposed to look like in this YouTube video.

Even if it isn't "right," I really do love the combination of spiral, feather shapes and pebbles.

Sophie -- I think you did a fantastic job of quilting these little pieces. The feather galaxy came out wonderfully, it filled the space, your stitches are perfect and overall it looks marvelous. Those pebbles are rocking too!! Congratulations on quilting well done and thanks so much for sharing on the Facebook group and for the YouTube shout out. You really did a nice job. Way to go !!

Interesting that you feel you 'failed'. Does it look like a "carbon copy"??? No, but it really shouldn't cuz it's yours, not Karen's or mine (it became quite a frenzy way back at the creation/beginning of this motif!!! LOL!!!) and yours will change as you stitch it more (mine has!). Added note: I really do like the thread color that you used on the black background. It's really most effective and almost appears to be printed on the fabric!!!! The more FMQ you do the more bold/daring you will become in the thread color choices you use cuz .......it really IS all about the FMQ!!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL! Keep up the great stitching!!!! Hugs................

Wow I love your quilting and it looks awesome on those placemats! Making your quilting your own design is a good thing. I watched the video and think this is a great technique, I will have to try it as after seeing it on your placemats I love it.
