End of May ... Green Scrappy Blocks and Projects Begun and Finished
Little things make me happy ... like realizing earlier this week that there was one more Saturday in May and so I had time to make and share some scrappy green Briar Path blocks–the last of the projects I'm working on as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. You can see all the Briar Patch blocks I've made so far here.
At the beginning of the month, I thought I'd work on more green projects ... but it didn't turn out that way. I did start some other projects and mostly finished them. Here's my recap for Barbara's NewFO challenge.
In May, I made the I-Spy Stars quilt and the little pinwheels top, inspired by using the bonus triangles. The pinwheel quilt isn't quilted. I was recently gifted with some tiny buttons that are part of my plan for it. The sewing machine cover was started in April, but finished in May.
My name tag and Sophie Junction signpost piece were begun in May as something to stitch while watching TV.
I also played around with an idea for a Kitty Softie and made this prototype ballet kitty softie.
In June, I plan to make more kitty softies and many (many!) scrappy yellow blocks for four rainbow scraps projects.
I'd like to finish putting together the top for the Feather Bed Quilt and start quilting it.
And I really want to kick off a new project for the 12 weeks of summer that will make use of those very old neutral and cream swap blocks as a scrappy background.
I rarely commit project lists to blog pages because I fear life or another interesting project will distract and I'll end up getting none of it done. Curiously lists and project plans DO work for me for other things ... maybe I resist anything that turns what's fun into a commitment, a deadline ... work.
Are you a list maker? Do you create project plans or schedules for your quilts? Does it still feel like play?

I was thrilled to discover an "extra" weekend too, I really thought we were already into June! Your green blocks are awesome. I scribble lists for everything. But I never had one for quilt projects until very recently. I'm not sure if it has helped or freaked me out, however, it helps tremendously when I want to drop everything and start playing with a new idea!
Always love some good green blocks. My favorite color. Also wondering if there are any good quilting shops you'd recommend in the Taos, Santa Fe area? My husband and I are planning a trip down after years of not visiting and I'd love to stop by a worthy shop.
I am a list maker, both for work away and at home. But the key word here is "work." I've made a few lists of stuff I should finish, but tend to avoid referring to the list once it is written. Maybe I already sense that fun stuff should be fun and to make a list moves it over to that other list: Work. (Work?) Maynard G. Krebs.
Cute, cute stuff, Sophie.
I do make lots of lists. Last year I made a foam core board list of ufo's, divided by how long they would take to finish. I'm plugging through the list, yea!
I make lists for everything, otherwise I just spin my wheels. I may not get it all done, but I do make good progress.
I enjoy reading your blog, you have lots of fun ideas.
I love you Briar path blocks. Did you design the pattern yourself?
Your briar path blocks are excellent!
The only time I make a list is when I want to remember a good idea or two. Trouble with lists is you have to remember where you put them.
Hugs
I make lists. I lose lists. I find lists. Do I stick to them ....not even grocery lists. Sometimes they just help by providing a focus but they shouldn't become an anchor and weigh you down. Enough about lists. Love the variety in your projects. Green was so much fun and now we're turning our thoughts and plans and list to glorious yellow!
Despite a back problem...wow, you accomplished a lot and it's all sooooo good, it's all soooo fun.
The only lists around here stay in my head. 20 minute drive to work I think what I'm going to accomplish at work that day..20 min drive home I think what I'm going to accomplish at home that night. So, that way I never have to plan ahead or feel bad because I didn't accomplish any major goal.
So glad you put the extra Saturday in May to good use. I like to make lists for quilting too, but don't take it too seriously for fear of turing play into more work. There are so many obligations in life, it is nice to just enjoy playing with fabric from time to time.
I love your Briar Path block - lots of wonderful projects. I need lists just to keep in some sort of 'on-track', but I don't worry if they don't get completed as the list can be re-written.
Your Briar Patch blocks are looking great. I just checked the post that shows all the colors together, and it is going to be a fabulous quilt!
I avoid public lists. And the lists in my head are informal, subject to change as either a new need arises or a new idea pops up. Love your green blocks.
Hi!!! Love your green Briar Patch blocks!!! I am finding I don't do well creating once I put it on a list or try to make deadlines...life does happen a lot!!!! Then it makes me feel sad a little bit!!!! So I guess I need to stop it!!!! The New FO Challenge is fun cause just starting something counts!!!
Wow, so many pretty projects! Anything Green is fabulous in my book. Oh, Kitties!!!! I have given up the lists too. They kind of suck the fun out of a project. Deadlines are bad enough sometimes. Thanks for sharing!
All your blocks are beautiful! I make mental lists of projects I want to finish and in what order I want to finish them. Sometimes I make it happen. But not always.
Oh! I love those Briar Path blocks. They are so bright and fun. I like making some lists, but as soon as I post them on my blog everything goes haywire. I made a commitment to a NewFO project and couldn't ever find the dang thing on my computer after that! So, I substituted. :)
