Among the confusing elements was Angela's choice for the Rainbow Scraps Challenge this month ... it was green, but not like the green that had come before. Unfortunately, because I had chosen a broad interpretation for my scrappy blocks, I had effectively painted myself into a corner. I did manage to make a yellow-green oak leaf block today (second from the left in the bottom row) that comes close to being distinctive enough from the green block beside it.
I didn't need any more green broken dishes stars and I decided to wait and see if a bunch more green paper pieced Briar Patch blocks makes sense, rationalizing that it might be a good thing to wait until the end of the year, or whenever it's time to lay them out and see what color blocks I need to make them play happily together.

My quilt guild started a block lotto this month -winner take all. the coordinator picked the usual Maple Leaf pattern, and as I was making it, I realized how much more interesting your leaf pattern is. Thanks for always inspiring us to do something a little different.

Your yellow-green block is definitely distinctive. I can easily tell that it is different than the darker green version. September is orange -- I hope that helps some of the decision making:)
This is such a cool block. I think the one you made for this month looks great.
I miss your posts! It's always great to see another leaf block.
I wasn't expecting another month of green either but it worked out for me to use up some bigger scraps.
I'm look forward to the orange Oak Leaf from you, it's such a great block.
You have my sympathies - I had the same problem with the RSC this month myself (oh wait, it's September - I mean, last month!) - I'd just used most of my scrappy green stuff before and didn't have a selection of specific yellow greens... Luckily, I wasn't making a year long project using each month's colour! Anyway, glad it's a new month, with a new colour, though as I'm back to work tomorrow, there will be less sewing anyway...
Your yellow-green leaf has worked out very well, and contrasts well with the first green block. I had the same problem having used a lot of yellow green before. Reading the responses here, I don't think we were the only two!
The yellow green is perfect with all the other oak leaves! I think I need that signpost in my yard. I've started to sort scraps & fabric so I have a mess all over. Can't seem to finish anything but I go through this after each big project like the Upper Midwest Woodcarver & Quilt Expo. I'm laying out the May blocks so I'm starting to sort myself out, too. Happy Labor Day!
Seems that was the nearly universal response to the second month for green . . .
LOVE the sign graphic you shared in this post!!
