Holiday Afterglow

While some are expressing relief that the holidays are over and are busily putting their houses back in order, I am hanging onto the afterglow of the season and the last days of vacation. My gifts have been delivered and all the social gatherings of family and friends are behind me. I'm enjoying simple meals, quiet evenings with a book or knitting and the luxury of time for introspection and reflection.

Sounds like a lovely way to finish out the season. My New Year's weekend has been very low key and I'm really enjoying it.

Would you care to share some of your simple meals? I have been outdoing myself cooking the last few days and would welcome something easy. I think the overcooking comes from being at someone else's home and not getting to make all my own food choices. I am pretty selfish that way...

That little angel ornament is special....now, who does she remind me of?.... I hope she stands watch over you (even from within a tissue wrap and cardboard box!) throughout 2006. Happy New Year, Sophie.

Sophie,
My tree and pretties are still up, I love the lights in the evenings. I am reluctant to put it all away because it is so peaceful and beautiful...but I'm glad the pressure of the holiday is over. I love your little angel...

The ornament is an after-Christmas sale purchase--I couldn't resist her. After I brought her home and hung her on my tree, I thought that she really is "blondberry" personified.

I knew that's why you had her! And I don't blame you for bringing her home. Maybe she doesn't need to spend the next year in tissue. Maybe she needs to watch over your studio, to guard all that creativity energy when you're otherwise engaged.
