Since life for me is quite challenging and stressful and my usual response is to stop blogging, I thought I would share photos of some of the quilts from the fiesta throughout June so that my friends know I'm still alive and everyone else can enjoy visiting the virtual show with me.
This show was the first stop for the Best of QuiltCon exhibit. I didn't attend QuiltCon and even though I have seen photos of most of the quilts in the exhibit, I was glad to see some of them alive and in person.
Quilt for Our Bed by Laura Hartrich won the People's Choice award at QuiltCon.
I was especially curious to see this quilt because although I saw it on MQG's list of winners, I hadn't seen it mentioned much in the blogs I follow. I knew there had to be more to this quilt than one could find in the quilting blogiverse.
This quilt and another were hung back to back on free-standing quilt racks, so it was difficult to get a photo of the pieced back ... here's the best I could manage. Isn't it fantastic?
The other fantastic thing about this quilt, besides those cool curvy letters and curved piecin on the front AND back, is the incredible quilting, by Nicki Maroon.
Here is Laura's artist statement about her quilt.
I will continue to share my photos from the Fiesta each day throughout June, but the impatient can find all the photos in my flickr album Fiber Arts Fiesta 2015 ... be forewarned that as I mentioned at the top of this post, I haven't yet managed to upload everything.

Great pictures Sophie! The Goodnight quilt was one of my absolute favorites from QuiltCon.
Oh thanks so much for sharing--this is a marvelous quilt! Hugs and hope your life relaxes a bit...Julieroe
I had seen photos of the QuiltCon quilts but seeing them at the show they were really amazing. You took some great detail shots where you can see the beautiful quilting.
This is the quilt I thought should have won at quiltcon. I was there and saw the rest of the offerings, and this one was really it for me, and obviously for a lot of others as it won people's choice. But alas, she did not have the big name like the "winner" did!!!!
Absolutely LOVE that quilt! Could totally find some inspiration in this! Thank you for sharing!
On a side note, I hope things get less stressful for you!
Helen :-)
Beautiful quilt. Now...slowly, inhale...exhale.
Thanks for an in depth study of this quilt. Glad to see you are still blogging.
You are a special lady. You not only inspire us with the things you do and make, you also inspire us with the things you see/observe. THANKS! Wished I could give you a hug. Hugs fix a lot!
Thanks for sharing my quilt on your blog. You got some really fantastic pictures of it! I'm glad they had it set up in a way that people could peek at the back. :)
